The slaughtering of Christians in Nigeria has recently claimed more than 164 lives and brought fear that another massacre will happen.
Muslim Fulani herdsmen were identified as the assailants in a massacre June 13–14 in Yelwata village in Nigeria’s Benue state. According to the Catholic charity Aid to the Church in Need, initial reports put the death toll at 100 but is estimated to be as high as 200, states Christian Daily International-Morning Star News.

“The death toll makes it the single worst atrocity in the region, where there has been a sudden upsurge in attacks and increasing signs that a concerted militant assault is underway to force an entire community to leave,” says Christian Daily-Morning Star, referencing information from the charity.
Some suspects have been arrested, the news outlet reports.
In Nigeria’s Plateau state, a reported 64 Christians were slain in the past few weeks. Muslim Fulani herdsmen were the perpetrators, the news outlet states.
Among the communities attacked were Tse Asha, Ukange, Adeor, Udei, Dangwal and Jol.
World Watch
