Sand Springs Baptist celebrates 150th anniversary

Sand Springs Baptist Church, Fayette, celebrated its 150th anniversary, Sept. 13. The theme, “The Anchor Holds,” was a celebration of God’s faithfulness and remembrance of the tragedy in 2004 when an arsonist destroyed the former church building. Marlin Mayfield was the guest preacher. The church received a special commemorative plaque from David Nelson, a commissioner of the Alabama Baptist Historical Commission. Pastor Jon Elinburg accepted the honor. A celebration luncheon was served following the service.
