Calling all students whose school-day obligations cut into the possibility of attending the State Evangelism Conference: this rally’s for you.
On Feb. 25, the office of collegiate and student ministries at the Alabama Baptist State Board of Missions (SBOM) will hold a Connect rally in conjunction with the evangelism conference for the first time.
The rally, to be held at First Baptist Church, Alabaster, is aimed at letting students know “they are just as much a part of the Great Commission” as their adult counterparts who will attend the evangelism conference at Lakeside Baptist Church, Birmingham, Feb. 26–27.
So says Keith Loomis, an associate in the SBOM office of collegiate and student ministries. “It’s designed to help students be passionate and know how to share their faith on one of the greatest missions fields — their school campus,” he said.
Pizza will be served at 7 p.m., followed by the rally at 7:30.
Scott Grissom of Campus Revolution, a partner of the North American Mission Board’s children’s & student evangelism team, will speak. Mobile-based band Seraph will lead worship.
“The event is designed to help students think very intentionally about connecting with God, connecting with a lost friend and then connecting that lost friend to Christ,” Loomis said.
And as a follow-up to the rally, four sessions will be available during the evangelism conference for youth leaders to expand on the concepts presented by Grissom. “We’re wanting to create a whole thing where the youth minister can bring their students that night (to the rally), then be a part of the evangelism conference and have specific opportunities to look at student evangelism,” Loomis said.
A list of specific topics for the evangelism conference is on page 13 and is available at www.alsbom.org/sec.
