Three Birmingham-area churches recently provided a helping hand to Black Belt residents and organizations during a Sowing Seeds of Hope workday in Perry County Jan. 12.
The congregations — Riverchase Baptist Church, Hoover, in Shelby Baptist Association; Shades Crest Baptist Church, Bluff Park, in Birmingham Baptist Association; and Fellowship of the Valley in Hoover — took part in three projects designed to improve the physical, economic, spiritual and social environment of the county.
One team joined Judson College students in presenting a carnival at the Marion-Perry County Library, while another laid carpet tiles in a meeting room at Lincoln Normal School.
The third team sorted and displayed items in Crossties thrift store, which sells clothing for $1 per bag.
