New Genesis Baptist Church, Fyffe, in DeKalb Baptist Association, received a welcome surprise when it was reported to the congregation that a donor had agreed to pay off the church’s banknote of more than $65,000.
The donor, who requested to remain anonymous, is a client of Sharon Byrd, a local hairdresser who is a member of New Genesis Baptist.
In celebration of the announcement, the church held a luncheon and afternoon service Jan. 13, welcoming members from more than a dozen different churches.
At the luncheon, Byrd told the congregation that during a hair appointment, the anonymous donor, who is not a member of New Genesis, told her she had been blessed with some excess wealth. She said she felt the Lord would want her to help churches with her new money.
After hearing of New Genesis’ financial situation, the woman agreed to use the money to help the church. (TAB)
