Stay involved, says Christian life group

God is calling us to be more involved in our society than ever and that’s where the Christian Life Commission (CLC) comes into play, said Bill Morgan, CLC chairman.
“One of the ways the Christian Life Commission does its job is to keep you informed on the moral and ethical issues facing the state,” he said.

The CLC distributes 6,000 newsletters quarterly to keep Alabama Baptists on top of issues from gambling and substance abuse to racial reconciliation, according to Morgan, during his report to state convention messengers Nov. 14.

It does this primarily through special-emphasis days such as World Hunger Sunday, which takes place the second Sunday in October, Morgan said. The focus of that will change slightly in 2008, he added.
“One change for that Sunday … is that we will no longer use the rice bowls,” Morgan said, noting that loaves of bread that are easier to use and reuse would replace the traditional rice-bowl offering holders.
The World Hunger Offering for 2006 brought in $678,946.92. The total for 2007 has not been finalized. (TAB)
