Willmore names committees

Two committees, the credentials committee and the tellers committee, were appointed during the state convention’s opening session Nov. 13. The committee on committees was also named during the Tuesday sessions.

State convention President Roger Willmore announced the appointments 30 days prior to the annual meeting in accordance with bylaw requirements, but messengers had to ratify the appointments during the meeting.
The convention credentials committee helps with problems regarding registration and seating of messengers.
Serving as chairman of the committee was Paul Murphy, First Baptist Church, Arab. Serving with him were Jack Fitts, First Baptist Church, Brewton; Grant Barber, Eastern Shore Baptist Church, Daphne; Mike Goforth, Sardis Baptist Church, Boaz; Judy Roden, Gilliam Springs Baptist Church, Arab; Billy Kendrick, Millry Baptist Church, Millry; and Randall Stoner, First Baptist Church, Boaz.

Tellers committee members would have helped convention officers tabulate convention votes if ballots had been used.

Mack Morris, Woodridge Baptist Church, Mobile, served as chairman. Other members were Daniel Wilson, Raleigh Avenue Baptist Church, Birmingham; Janie Johnson, Cypress Shores Baptist Church, Mobile; Harold Fanning, Autumnwood Baptist Church, Decatur; Todd Burr, Dogwood Grove Baptist Church, Montevallo; Wayne Woods, Grace Baptist Church, Oxford; and Franklin Kirksey, First Baptist Church, Spanish Fort.

The following were also elected to serve on the committee on committees until 2009: Ed Cruce, Fairfield Highlands Baptist Church, Bessemer; John Nicholson, First Baptist Church, Sulligent; and Sammie Reid, Mount Zion Baptist Church, Warrior.  (TAB)
