Union churches hold youth evangelism event

God can take the mess you’ve made of your lives and make something beautiful, Charles Churchwell told a crowd of about 250 at Union ’07, a youth evangelism event held May 6 in Union.

Churchwell, a member of Beulah Baptist Church, Dadeville, in Tallapoosa Baptist Association, helped his church organize the communitywide event in partnership with several area churches including Refuge Baptist, Tallassee; Elam Baptist, Tallassee; Union Methodist; and New Prospect Methodist, Union. Sponsored by area businesses, the three-hour event featured performances by Noise Gate, Cross Talk and Count the Cost. Scott Hammonds of Tallassee led worship, and students from Enterprise High School gave testimonies.

Eric Hixon, founder of M.U.D. (Making U Disciples) Ministries, delivered a message on the differences between believing in God’s existence and being a true believer.

"It was a great fellowship, but the purpose behind it was evangelistic," said Tim Bass, pastor of Beulah Baptist. "We had five decisions." Bass plans to provide more events like this in the future. "Everyone that was involved is interested in continuing this effort, and hopefully other churches will become involved," he said.
