Twenty-nine people accepted Christ as Savior during a hunting banquet and seminar held at Daviston Baptist Church in Tallapoosa Baptist Association March 30.
The banquet and seminar — which provided local hunters with a catered meal, land management tips and a chance to display their deer mounts — drew about 130 people. Phil Swearengin, associate pastor of adult education at Lakeview Baptist Church, Auburn, in Tuskegee Lee Baptist Association, closed by sharing hunting stories from Africa and presenting the gospel.
"The highlight and focus of the evening was his reminder to the men in the audience of their responsibility to be there for their families, not just physically but spiritually," said Ray Hallman, pastor of Daviston Baptist. "Decisions were made for Christ, and the door was opened for many more future opportunities to reach others for Christ."
