Churches Send Reports of Good News

Being in the good news business, The Alabama Baptist likes to help churches across the state spread their good news. At the state convention’s annual meeting next month in Huntsville, we would like to post good news from every Baptist church in Alabama.

Here’s what we are asking: Using 25 words or less, tell one or more things that have happened at your church in the past 12 months that caused rejoicing among your members. Each message will begin with Good News! and end with To God be the glory! (Those words don’t count toward the 25-word limit.)

Please type or print the information and mail, fax or e-mail it by Oct. 30. Mail to: Good News, The Alabama Baptist, 3310 Independence Dr., Birmingham, AL 35209; fax to: 205-870-8957; or e-mail to: mail@thealabamabaptist.org.

For a church that is without a pastor, we are asking the deacon chairman, the church secretary or the church clerk to send in good news. Just in case some clarification is needed, please indicate who sent the information and provide that person’s daytime phone number.

A few weeks ago, the paper mailed the request to all pastors in the state. We have been receiving interesting and inspiring good news. For those who have yet to respond, we are renewing the request.

The following is a sampling of good news that has been sent to us: Wadsworth Baptist Church in Autauga Association: We have leased another facility to house our growing Hispanic ministry. LaMision Hispana is a miraculous reality. To God be the glory!

Old Belmont Baptist Church in Bigbee Association: After a four-night revival we had nine people baptized. To God be the glory!

Trussville First Baptist Church in Birmingham Association: More than 200 missions volunteers participated in seeing more than 500 people saved in projects in Georgia, Arkansas, Ohio, Pennsylvania, El Salvador and Ecuador. To God be the glory!

Bowden Grove Baptist Church in Carey Association: Pastor Joe Brown celebrated his 50th anniversary in the ministry. Patricia Jenkins was honored for 42 years as church pianist. To God be the glory!

Littleville First Baptist Church in Colbert-Lauderdale Association: We have baptized 88 people in the last 15 months. To God be the glory!

Gadsden First Baptist Church in Etowah Association: We are offering a Bible study for children suffering with autism. God provided a member who works with these special children. To God be the glory!

Clarksdale Baptist Church in Madison Association: Reopened the church doors after they had been closed. We’ve had five saved and a total of 31 to join so far this year. To God be the glory!

Northside Baptist Church in Shelby Association: Beginning Jan. 1, we read through the entire Bible out loud from the pulpit in three days, three hours and 28 minutes. To God be the glory!

We look forward to receiving your church’s good news soon.
