Charles Owens, pastor of Shiloh Baptist Church, Somerville, in Morgan Baptist Association, recently celebrated the 30th anniversary of his ordination into the ministry. Owens, who considers Twelfth Street Baptist Church, Gadsden, his home church, was ordained April 30, 1978, at Goodyear Heights Baptist Church, Gadsden, while serving in a bivocational ministry position there.
During his ministry, he has served churches in Alabama and Florida, preached through every book in the Bible, worked on four missions teams and served on various Southern Baptist Convention and associational committees.
Owens recently added author to his resumé with "Ansieunt: The First World of Man." The first of a three-book series, it is a fictional account of the pre-Flood world and can be found at www.tatepublishing.com.
He and his wife, Patricia, have four children and one grandchild.
