Walk for Bibles a hit in Russell Association

Almost 100 men, women and children exercised their legs March 10 to provide Bibles for others in a walk for Bibles sponsored by the Russell Baptist Association Woman’s Missionary Union (WMU).

At the end of five miles of walking in Idle Hour Park in Phenix City, more than $5,000 had been raised to buy Bibles, said Pat Boyd, associational WMU director. At least seven organizations will benefit from the walk. One of those is the International Seaman’s Center in Mobile, which received $1,000 with which to buy Bibles in various languages for those passing through the center.

Boyd said 19 of Russell Association’s 39 churches participated in the event, which is in its second year.
