The students of Government Street Baptist Church, Mobile, in Mobile Baptist Association studied about love during February as part of a True Love Waits campaign.
More than 70 students in grades six through 12 took part in the weekly Wednesday night studies that focused on four different love topics: sexual purity and the importance of abstaining from sex until marriage, the kinds of love that God has for people, the type of godly man or woman the students want to be and how to encourage each other to be godly.
The monthlong emphasis culminated in a Feb. 19 ring ceremony led by Pastor Charles Brown. The students, parents and congregation participated in a responsive reading and then the parents placed a simple band with five crosses across the top on the students’ left ring finger to signify their commitment to sexual purity until marriage.
The goal is for the students to wear the band until it is replaced by a wedding ring from their future spouse.
