Four Baptist congregations in west Alabama whose buildings were burned by arsonists Feb. 7, 2006, were brought together a year later by their joint loss.
On Feb. 10 this year, Dancy First Baptist Church near Aliceville, Galilee Baptist Church in Panola, Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church near Boligee and Spring Valley Baptist Church near Emelle were brought together again in a ceremony commem-orating their loss and celebrating the work of God in helping them to rebuild.
About 125 people attended the ceremony at Aliceville City Hall, according to Gary Farley, director of missions for Pickens Baptist Association, who has served as the liason between the churches and the Alabama Baptist State Board of Missions to coordinate relief and construction help.
Hosted by Dancy First Baptist, the meeting featured a fellowship supper, followed by a worship service. Groups from the churches sang or performed dramas, and Pastor James D. Moebes of Mountain Brook Baptist Church in Birmingham Baptist Association spoke.
"It was a time of thanksgiving and a celebration of seeing the miracle of God in providing the resources … to get their churches back and going," Farley said.
