LifeWay, Brazilian publisher plan venture

SAO PAULO, Brazil — LifeWay Christian Resources of the Southern Baptist Convention has reached agreement to launch a joint venture with a Brazilian publisher, retailer and music distributor, Bompastor, headquartered in Sao Paulo.

A new division of Bompastor, LifeWay Brazil, will be established to translate, publish and distribute selected LifeWay discipleship and leadership resources.

In addition to working closely with the Baptist Convention of Brazil, LifeWay Brazil will provide extensive field service and training to major evangelical denominations in Brazil.

The joint venture was formalized Sept. 28 when an agreement was signed in Sao Paulo by Ted Warren, LifeWay executive vice president and chief operating officer, and Bompastor’s president, Elias Carvalho.

Bompastor, in business for more than 25 years, publishes inspirational books and Bibles and operates a chain of Christian bookstores. It also is the largest Christian music distributor in Brazil.
