Misrepresented

Misrepresented

After reading the article about the Jasper student regaining her right to wear a cross necklace, I felt the need to respond to the article. I don’t feel the girl should be applauded for going against school policy. She was never denied the right to wear the cross, only asked to wear it inside her shirt during school hours. She was also informed she could wear it outside with a shorter chain.

Rather than following the rules set forth by the school system, she made an issue out of the incident that was misrepresented. It is hard for me to look at this incident as a “victory” for Christians. This is a very controversial issue in our county, and it makes it seem that you, by giving this article front page honors, endorse going against authority.

I think before you print any more articles concerning these type issues you should get the facts from all parties involved. It just so happens that the principal at Curry Middle School is a Christian and a member of a local Baptist church. I’m sure she would have appreciated not being made out to sound as if she has no religion.
