SOUL WINNING
Thanks for an informative The Alabama Baptist. As a deacon in a church without a pastor, I sense a need for the laity to sacrifice ego and self-will in harmonizing zeal for soul winning. Your article on a methodology for church growth included a challenging guide.
Surely warm fellowship, deep discipleship, strong worship, broad ministry and large evangelism are soul-winning needs in any church. By focusing on these needs and observing 1 Corinthians 14:40, “Let all things be done decently and in order,” we can have a spiritual atmosphere in which agape love can thrive.
As James L. Sullivan explains in his revised edition of Baptist Polity, we need to distinguish between pure democracy and theodemocracy. He explains that the latter is a God-guided process in which calm business meetings can be moderated without a takeover by special interest groups.
By observing mutually-agreed-upon bylaws, under God, in a climate of openness and trust, we can get on with lay renewal and soul winning.

Do you or your church have Christian materials on cassette tapes that can be duplicated or given to the Vision Tape Ministry? If your answer is “yes,” you can really help this volunteer ministry to the visually impaired and blind.
This ministry reaches out to visually impaired and blind people in 30 states and 13 foreign countries, providing free Christian materials on cassette tapes to more than 2,000 people.
Another way you can help is by providing blank cassette tapes or tapes that can be erased and used again, because we have materials available to us that can be duplicated.
Vision Tape Ministry is a free ministry to the visually impaired and blind. We do not charge any fees, solicit any funds or sell anything. The ministry is supported by friends of the ministry who make contributions on a regular basis.
This ministry was founded in 1982, after I lost my remaining sight due to injuries I received during World War II, and God has blessed the ministry causing it to grow year-by-year.
Our resources for cassette tapes have dropped off in the past year or two, and that is why we are making this appeal. For more information, please call 334-297-6432.
