After 10 years of service as pastor of First Korean Baptist Church, Enterprise, in Coffee Baptist Association, David Park has retired from the pastorate. Park and his wife, Kay, came to serve at First Korean Baptist in August 1996.
A native of Korea, he has a doctor of ministry degree and two master of divinity degrees.
“One thing that stands out in my mind about his leadership is that he led the church toward a multicultural approach in ministry,” said Richard Alford, director of language missions in the office of associational missions and church planting at the Alabama Baptist State Board of Missions, noting that Park brought on Anglo staff members to minister to the Anglo spouses of some church members and second-generation Korean children and youth. Park also led the church in a building program to construct the current auditorium and a second building that houses a gym, Alford said.
During his time as pastor of the Enterprise church, Park also served a term as president of the Council of Korean Southern Baptist Churches in North America, a national organization representing 700 Korean Baptist churches in America. In retirement, he is residing in Orlando, Fla., and working with a Korean ministry there. Byung Sik Kim is serving as his successor.
