A team of 18 — including eight members of Deerfoot Baptist Church, Trussville, and one member of Walkers Chapel Baptist Church, Fultondale — traveled to Romania in July.
The team worked with the Romania Chapel Project, which has built small chapels in rural areas since 1995, to build its 99th chapel in Afanta, a rural city about two hours west of the capital of Bucharest. The chapel functions as a Baptist church and has a 20-member congregation.
The members of the two Birmingham Association churches joined members of churches from Pennsylvania, North Carolina and Tennessee to not only do construction work on the chapel but also prayer walk, lead VBS and hold a women’s Bible study.
The team was responsible for putting on the roof, installing the windows and doors and wiring the chapel for electricity.
