Ozark pastor Hill retires after 36 years in ministry

After 36 years of serving churches in Florida, South Carolina, Georgia, Mississippi and Alabama, Pastor Isom D. Hill recently retired from pastoral ministry.

Members of Hillcrest Baptist Church, Ozark, in Dale Baptist Association honored their pastor of more than seven years with a retirement luncheon Aug. 27. Hill’s tenure at Hillcrest Baptist marked his second time to minister in Ozark — from 1980 until 1996, he served as pastor of the city’s Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.

Hill, a native of Mississippi, started preaching as a supply pastor while attending Baptist Bible Institute (now the Baptist College of Florida) in Graceville, Fla., where he earned a bachelor’s degree in 1974.
