After 35 years in the ministry, Bill Percy, pastor of Central Baptist Church, Talladega, in Coosa River Baptist Association, has retired.
At a surprise retirement party July 30, the congregation presented him with a book filled with letters from Gov. Bob Riley, U.S. Rep. Mike Rogers and others who influenced Percy’s ministry through the years.
“It has always been a joy to see people come to Christ and then see them discipled into growing, mature believers,” he said. “As you walk with people through the good times and the bad times of life, you realize the comforting aspect of the Holy Spirit. You also get to dream dreams and then see them realized.”
Percy also served Cuba Baptist Church, Bigbee Association; Thomaston Baptist Church, Bethel Association; and Odena Baptist Church, Sylacauga, Coosa River Association, as well as churches in Louisiana and Texas. He served four terms on the Alabama Baptist State Board of Missions and two years as moderator of Coosa River Association.
Percy and his wife, Judy, plan to travel, hold revivals and serve in ministry roles. To contact him, call 256-245-6657.
