Ukrainians help state Baptists’ work on coast

Forty-two Baptists from Ukraine recently traveled with Baptists from Madison Baptist Association to help with disaster relief efforts in Pearlington, Miss.

The June 24–30 missions trip grew out of the partnership between Baptists in Ukraine and Alabama. Team members worked on a new house for George and Margaret Ladner, whose home was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina.

Madison Baptists have taken 13 trips to Pearlington to help with the community’s rebuilding efforts since Katrina hit in August 2005. On the latest trip — July 15–21 — 80 volunteers  worked on 11 houses and held Vacation Bible School for area children. (TAB)
