The University of Mobile (UM) has received a $22,000 grant from The Mosow Family Foundation in Mobile, according to Marty Vignes, vice president for development at UM.
The grant will be used to renovate a school of business classroom in William K. Weaver Hall to create a “smart” classroom, which includes technology to provide Internet access to professors and students.
The grant includes funds to enhance instruction by upgrading the technology in a classroom and creating a professional business environment.
Funds will be used to purchase a SMART Board — an interactive whiteboard containing a touch-sensitive display, which connects to a computer and data projector already available in the classroom. Renovation will include recessed lighting, painting, carpeting, ceiling tiles, blinds, tables, lectern and executive-style chairs.
This is the second classroom in the school of business to be renovated with the help of grants and gifts to include new technology, according to Vignes.
