Joe Lynn Adams, pastor of Stemley Baptist Church, Talladega, died Jan. 22. He was 66.
Serving the Coosa River Baptist Association church for nearly 22 years, Adams was one of the association’s longest-tenured pastors.
He led his church in a variety of community outreach ministries, including providing ministries to senior citizens and building a family life center to serve as a fellowship area.
“He was a very personable pastor and loved his people, and they had a good relationship there,” said Luther Williams, retired director of missions for Coosa River Association, who knew Adams for nearly 13 years. “He was obviously very committed to that congregation.
“People were called to ministry under his leadership there, and he used those people in ministry. I always admired that about him,” Williams said. “He was multiplying himself in the lives of others.”
A native of Pell City, Adams previously served as pastor of Lister Memorial Baptist Church, Pell City, in St. Clair Baptist Association and worked as a schoolteacher in the Pell City School System.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou; two children; and three grandchildren. (TAB)
