CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Attempts to amend Wyoming’s constitution to prevent the state from recognizing same-sex unions from other states failed Feb. 6 in the Wyoming House of Representatives.
Every state that borders Wyoming has passed such action, known as a constitutional marriage amendment. Thirty states in all have amendments.
Needing a two-thirds majority to pass and go to the Senate, the amendment received 25 votes for it and 35 votes against. If it had passed both bodies, it would have been placed on the 2010 ballot.
