In times of suffering, difficulties and struggles, David Platt said believers have the perfect chance to hear from God and see His greatness revealed. Teaching primarily out of Job 42, Platt, senior pastor of The Church at Brook Hills, Birmingham, in Birmingham Baptist Association, spoke Feb. 17 to a full chapel service at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, N.C. He taught that the experience of wrestling with God is the perfect chance to hear from the Lord.
“God is good. He is sovereign,” Platt said. “He knows what He is doing, even when we wrestle with it.”
Looking at Job, who lost everything but kept his faith in the goodness of God, Platt said, “We think (because we’ve suffered), it’s time for answers. What we get from God are questions that reveal His greatness. Maybe what we need are not answers, but presence.” (SEBTS)
