While teaching full time at a juvenile detention facility and serving as a chaplain in the Army National Guard and pastor of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church, Ozark, in Dale Baptist Association, Craig Bailey found time to do something else — write a book.
The book, “Into the Darkness: Children Behind Bars,” was published by VDM and was a result of Bailey’s dissertation research. To complete his doctorate in educational leadership, policy and law at Alabama State University in Montgomery, he did nationwide research focusing on the education of adjudicated youth.
“These children, in many cases, are returning to our public schools and must be adequately prepared to re-enter our educational systems,” Bailey said. “More importantly, they must be prepared to enter the workforce.”
