On April 4, Judy Brackin Hereford Martin received the 2009 Alumnae Loyalty Award at Judson College’s annual J-Day celebration.
Martin returned to Judson to serve on the administrative staff of the college and retired in 1998 as vice president for institutional advancement. Since that time, she has worked as a private consultant involved in community development in the Black Belt area of Alabama and for U.S. Rep. Artur Davis as constituent services representative.
Presently a Marion resident, Martin is a former president of the Judson College Alumnae Association and serves on the boards of Sowing Seeds of Hope, the Perry County Chamber of Commerce, the Alabama Military Hall of Honor and the Coalition for Women Entrepreneurs. She also serves on the executive committee of the Black Belt Heritage Area Task Force and works with Judson’s development office, Black Belt Treasures in Camden and the Lower Cahaba Basin tourism development.
She is married to John L. Martin. The Martins are members of Marion United Methodist Church and the parents of seven children.
