The 2004 Hoobastank hit “The Reason” has been waiting for a Christian band to sing it to God for five years. Julian Drive pulls it off swimmingly.
The sound the Athens, Ga.-based quartet achieves on their debut for Inpop Records is by no means groundbreaking, but through a combination of meaty guitar riffs, piano-a-plenty and an almost country swagger on certain songs — a la 33 Miles and Rascal Flatts — the band has put together a thoroughly enjoyable, albeit short, record that will make new fans and leave them wanting more.
