Blount Baptists to kick off revival season in association

Johnny Hudson is pretty sure there will be people saved in Oneonta on the third Sunday in June. There always seems to be, at least. And if not Sunday, then the next day or the day after that or the day after that. Blount Baptist Association’s annual weeklong associational revival, which always starts on the third Sunday in June (this year, June 21) and kicks off the association’s summer revival season, has been going on for years. And there always does seem to be people saved.

Beyond the gospel, there is no real secret to it or anything, said Hudson, a member of Robin Hill Baptist Church, Oneonta, and Blount’s associational clerk. They don’t do anything fancy. There aren’t any special stories to tell beyond “sinner-meet-Savior.”

They’ll meet — maybe 300 or 400 people that first night — at the associational office. They’ll have an evangelist come through, usually a different one each year. This year, it will be Greg Stone from High Point Baptist Church, just south of Albertville.

They’ll have their Bibles and shaped-note hymnals.

But other than that? “We’ll sing and testify and pray and preach,” Hudson said. “And we’ll probably have people saved.”
