Don McKenna, a member of Dawson Memorial Baptist Church, Birmingham, led a team of 18 people to do missions work in Ecuador May 22–30. This was the seventh year the Birmingham Baptist Association church has sent a team to work with Steve and Carol Thompson of Global Outreach International.
The team, which included three doctors and a variety of other medical professionals, held a medical clinic and treated more than 1,600 patients in four days in the city of Tena. It also hosted an eye clinic and did construction work at the Christian camp run by the Thompsons.
Byron Mosquera, Hispanic pastor at Dawson Memorial Baptist, also led a pastors conference based on the book “The Purpose Driven Life” for Ecuadorean pastors and church leaders.
Ben Hale, minister of evangelism and missions at Dawson, said he was encouraged to see the growth of one of the churches Dawson has been working with in Ecuador.
