Chris Crain, pastor of South Roebuck Baptist Church, Birmingham, and its sister church North Valley, Margaret, is expecting more than 45,000 people to show up for the citywide crusade being planned for Narasaraopet, India, in 2010.
This past November, Crain and three others from the churches in Birmingham and St. Clair Baptist associations, respectively, joined a group of 13 from Boca Glades Baptist Church, Boca Raton, Fla., for missions work in Narasaraopet, and its surrounding villages. While there, the group hosted three small crusades in Narasaraopet, with around 30,000 people in attendance.
This year, Crain is trying to recruit 15 church members to help with one large crusade in 2010. There are plans to hand out evangelistic material during the event.
In addition to the crusade, the Alabama churches and Florida church plan to do medical missions and donate supplies to the medical clinic in Narasaraopet and money to the orphanage built by some members of Boca Glades Baptist.
“It’s unique to pull a mission trip together from two different campuses,” Crain said. “It’s a multi-generational experience and it is one of few opportunities to do something together.”
