Mexia Church celebrated the Fourth of July with a picnic and river baptism. Ten people were baptized in the Alabama River during the outdoor service at the Claiborne Lock and Dam. The church also will celebrate homecoming Aug. 2, 11 a.m., with Walter Sheffield as guest speaker. Sunday School will be at 10 a.m. Lunch will be at noon, and the Butter Fork Four will sing at 2 p.m. Wayne McMillian is pastor.
