First Baptist Church, Butler, on mission

Twenty-two members of Elkdale Baptist Church, Selma, in Selma Baptist Association and six members of First Baptist Church, Butler, in Choctaw Baptist Association traveled to Trinidad to do missions work July 23–31.

The team — led by Micah Gandy, former pastor of Elkdale Baptist — partnered with Mohess Road Baptist Church and its Co-pastor Wayne Balchan. The team hosted Vacation Bible School, assisted the Awana program and did street evangelism.

“The success of a missions trip largely depends on the host of the group coming, which is why this church is great to work with,” Gandy said. “This is a place where there is no missionary work going on and no support from the Cooperative Program or IMB (International Mission Board); so they need all the help they can get.”

This marked Elkdale’s fourth trip to Trinidad.
