A group of recent high school graduates and adults — 14 people total — from First Baptist Church, Opelika, in Tuskegee Lee Baptist Association traveled to Jaco, Costa Rica, June 1–7.
The team partnered with Nissi Church, an evangelical church in Jaco, and held Vacation Bible School in different neighborhoods each morning. It also ministered on the beach by providing breakfast to the homeless and drug addicts, an ongoing ministry of Nissi.
“We just found that Costa Rica is a great place to do missions,” said Alan Jones, minister to youth at First, Opelika, and trip leader. “They love Americans and they are open to the gospel.”
This was the second consecutive year for the church-sponsored senior missions trip to Costa Rica. First, Opelika, plans to go again next year.
