Charles E. Morris, minister to senior adults at Westview Baptist Church, Opp, in Covington Baptist Association, died Sept. 6. He was 80.
A native of Flomaton, Morris graduated from Howard College (now Samford University) in Birmingham and New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.
He served in the ministry for more than 60 years. Morris was a pastor of churches in Alabama, Florida and Louisiana. His Alabama pastorates comprised Second Baptist Church, Wetumpka; Macedonia Baptist Church, Gadsden; Blue Springs Baptist Church, Opp; and Northside Baptist Church, Andalusia.
Although he announced his retirement in 1990, Morris served as interim pastor of several Alabama Baptist churches before accepting his role at Westview Baptist five years ago.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Beatrice; four children; 12 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. (TAB)
