Kacey Cole, a member of Shades Mountain Baptist Church, Vestavia Hills, in Birmingham Baptist Association, and an employee of Samford University in Birmingham, led 10 Samford students to Huehuetenango, Guatemala, on a missions trip Jan. 5–18.
The team traveled with Buckner International to work at Fundación Salvación orphanage in Huehuetenango. Half of each day was spent playing with the children and the other half teaching Bible stories and making crafts to explain the stories. The main objective was to invest in the children and share the gospel, Cole said.
“The overwhelming agreement was that we were going to share with them Christ’s love, and it all came back to us tenfold,” she said.
