A conference examining Jesus’ leadership is scheduled for April 3 at Mt. Hebron West Baptist Church in Elmore.
Gene Wilkes, pastor of Legacy Baptist Church, Plano, Texas, and author of “Jesus on Leadership,” said the event will cover the seven principles of servant leadership discovered from the life and ministry of Jesus.
“We will look at how each one of us are molded by God to be a unique servant leader,” said Wilkes.
“Following Jesus’ life, a servant leader is someone who serves the mission and leads by serving those on mission with him or her,” he continued.
S.E.R.V.E. is one of the many principles outlined in the book. These letters represent spiritual gifts, experiences, relational style, vocational skills and enthusiasm in dealing with others.
The five-week workbook study was printed by LifeWay Press.
Wilkes, who spoke at the Summer Youth Celebration at Shocco Springs Conference Center in 1999, said the two sessions will discuss the elements of S.E.R.V.E.
The author of “My Identity in Christ” and the student edition of “Jesus on Leadership,” Wilkes has also written youth curriculum for LifeWay Christian Resources and has been published in several magazines and journals.
The event is sponsored by Elmore Baptist Association, Alabama State Board of Missions and LifeWay Christian Resources. Other associations supporting the event include Autauga, Chilton, Montgomery, Tallapoosa and Tuskegee-Lee.
