Judson to dedicate new science building

Judson College’s Charlotte G. Lowder Science Building will officially be dedicated May 10 with a ceremony beginning at 11 a.m. Tours of the building begin at 10 a.m.

The ceremony will feature remarks from members of Judson’s board of trustees, prominent alumnae of the college and Charlotte G. Lowder. The event will serve as an opportunity to celebrate this historic achievement and to express special appreciation to the Lowders and other good friends including Myrtle Ford and Cynthia McCaleb Gore.

“The Charlotte G. Lowder Science Building is an exceptional educational facility that complements the gifted faculty,” said David E. Potts, president of Judson College. “It represents the kind of forward thinking and progress that is typical of the Lowders, Judson College and the Marion community.”

The interior of the Charlotte G. Lowder Science Building features a two story foyer, including a circle nine feet in diameter in the floor that symbolizes the earth. An arc with a radius of 491 feet representing the sun will also pass through the space.

The new building also features a biotechnology laboratory specifically designed for the special needs of molecular biology and DNA instruction. (JC)
