First Baptist Church, Sandusky, on mission

Herman Pair, pastor of First Baptist Church, Sandusky, in Birmingham Baptist Association and president of International Bible Institute, traveled to Limuru, Kenya, April 5–14. Three other institute leaders also participated.

They worked with the Baptist Convention of Kenya to train 50 pastors to start 50 International Bible Institute satellite schools in Eastern Africa. The ministry provided the lodging, food and educational materials for the pastors who traveled from Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda and Congo. The training took place at Kenya Baptist Theological College in Tigoni and involved 16 basic courses including pastoral ministry, preaching, Bible survey, pastoral counseling, Christian doctrine, leadership and missions training.

This was the sixth year that the ministry has sponsored such a missions trip.

“Throughout the six years we’ve gone, over 200,000 people have come to Christ through pastors trained [at the conference] and over 1,500 churches have been planted [in Africa],” Pair said.
