Shocco Springs Baptist Conference Center in Talladega hosted approximately 4,000 youth at five Student Life camps this summer. At two of the five camps sponsored by Shocco Springs and the Alabama Baptist State Board of Missions, nearly 700 youth participated in a missions track. They completed 42 missions projects in the surrounding communities.
The projects included
• hosting backyard Bible clubs at apartment complexes in Talladega;
• volunteering in assisted-living and nursing homes in Sylacauga, Talladega and Pell City;
• working with children at the Boys Club of Sylacauga;
• doing yard work, painting and cleaning at several schools in Talladega;
• renovating the Alabama Woman’s Missionary Union WorldSong Camp facility in Cook Springs;
• stocking shelves, doing yard work and cleaning at the Red Door Kitchen, a soup kitchen in Talladega; and
• doing yard work and interacting with residents at Rainbow Omega in Eastaboga, a faith-based home for adults with special needs. (TAB)
