NOBTS doctoral seminars planned at Lakeside Baptist

Lakeside Baptist Church, Birmingham, will host professional doctoral seminars designed for doctor of ministry degree and doctor of educational ministry degree candidates. Lakeside Church, located at 2865 Old Rocky Ridge Road, is an extension center of New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary (NOBTS), which will provide the seminars.

The first seminar to be held in Birmingham, Leadership and Healthy Church Growth, will occur in the fall 2002 trimester, Aug. 23-24 and Sept. 20-21, and will be taught by Steve Echols, NOBTS director of the professional doctoral programs and associate professor of leadership. Echols previously served as pastor of First Baptist Church, Pleasant Grove.

Once per year the required Program Overview workshop for professional doctoral students will also be offered at Birmingham. The Mid-Career Workshop will be offered on a one-weekend format in Atlanta, New Orleans and possibly Birmingham. The Project Design Workshop must be taken on campus. Students are encouraged to take at least one seminar on the New Orleans campus.

The three-credit-hour seminars will be offered in a Friday evening 4-9 and Saturday 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. time frame. Each seminar will meet two weekends with approximately one month between weekends.

The deadline for application to the program for the fall trimester is April 1, 2002.
