Alabama Baptists are invited to examine their personal as well as their churches’ health at First Baptist Church, Pelham, during the Healthy Leaders, Healthy Churches Conference.
Hosted by the Alabama Baptist State Board of Missions (SBOM), the conference will take place March 8-9 beginning noon Monday.
Dale Huff, director of the office of LeaderCare/church administration for SBOM, said the purpose of the conference is to promote church health by making sure its leaders are healthy.
“No group will go far beyond its leadership, so if the leaders aren’t becoming healthier, it’s unlikely that the church is growing in health,” he said. “If a church is not healthy, it is not likely to be adequately meeting its God-ordained mission.”
Huff said both vocational ministers and any church lay leader could benefit from the conference.
“What we hope the conference will accomplish is to inspire our leaders to greater personal health and equip them toward fulfilling that,” he said.
The conference is part of the Alabama Baptist State Convention’s 2004 theme “Healthy Leaders, Healthy Churches.”
