Q: What led you to teach Sunday School?
A: I was inspired by the pastor’s wife at Central Park Baptist Church, Birmingham, who had faith in me. I loved to study the Bible and liked to tell others what it said, and I know it’s a message that they need. So I began serving at age 17.
Q: Why have you continued doing this activity?
A: I can’t put it down. When there is an opportunity, I pray it through and accept the responsibility, and it’s just always gone from one opportunity to another.
Q: What does the ministry demand?
A: Bible study on your own, prayer time, compassion toward others and concern for the message being taught.
Q: What do you get from the ministry?
A: Reassurance of life, guidance, an attitude of prayer and appreciation for private and corporate prayer.
Q: What difference will this ministry make for you in the future?
A: At 77, my future is now. I’ve got to put it all to use now, but I live it day by day. As I am spiritually, emotionally and physically able, I’ll serve when called upon.
