John Gillis “Radio” Johnson of Cottondale died April 13 at his residence. A member of Coaling Baptist Church, Johnson served Alabama Campers on Mission for five and a half years. For 50-plus years, Johnson served as pastor of Alabama Baptist churches in Fayette and Lamar counties. Johnson, a World War II veteran, was preceded in death by his first wife, Alice S. Johnson. He is survived by his wife Mary Keene Johnson, a daughter, two sons, a brother, a sister-in-law 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
