Tilford LeGrande Junkins, a long time pastor in Alabama, died May 15 at the age of 90. Junkins attended Auburn University, Howard College (now Samford University) and finished at Mississippi College in 1938.
He earned a theological degree from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary and attended chaplain school at Harvard University. In 1937, Junkins was called to serve as pastor of Fairfield Highlands Baptist Church, Midfield. He also served as pastor of Central Church, Phenix City; Wylam Church, Birmingham; First Church, Athens; Westwood Church, Birmingham; as well as churches in Florida and Mississippi.
Junkins was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Wilborn Junkins. He is survived by three children, six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and a brother.
