Siloam’s oldest member honored

Penelope Ann Walker Woolf, longtime member of Siloam Baptist Church, York, was recently honored for her faithful service by having the church’s homecoming day named after her.

Known as “Mrs. Nell” to those who know her, Woolf was recognized with a plaque and proclamation during the church’s November homecoming celebration.
Siloam Baptist Church was established in 1832 and was organized in 1838.

Woolf, who received a standing ovation following the presentation to her, is the oldest member of Siloam Baptist. She became a Christian and joined the church in 1923 at age 13. She will be 92 in April and, according to deacon chairman Brad Campbell, continues to teach a Sunday School class.

Woolf’s years of service were recognized in the proclamation:

“Whereas we are grateful for ‘Mrs. Nell’ for her dedication and service to the Lord. …”

Bob Simmons serves as pastor of Siloam Baptist Church.
