Haleburg Baptist Church may not have many members, but it does have a big heart.
That is how deacon Hannon Hall describes the church of about 50 members.
The Judson Baptist Association church was so burdened by the plight of those affected by the April tornadoes that it took up three offerings for the cause. The result was donations between $2,500 and $3,000, Hall said.
However, the monetary contributions did not include all the items and supplies that church members purchased to send to people in storm-damaged areas, Hall said.
“We’re small in number but we’ve all been blessed way beyond what we deserve,” he said.
Some church members also did “hands-on work” in the days after the April 27 storms, said Ray Cobb, Haleburg Baptist’s pastor since June. “The church is missions-minded.”
Hall pointed out that the church gives regularly to disaster relief efforts and missions. “We believe in missions” and helping others, he said.
In fact, the church recently teamed with Judson Association to provide a mobile home for a family, Cobb said.
“There’s need right around you if you just look,” Hall said. “The Lord will lead you.” (TAB)
