Union Hill Church, Bessemer, hosted Carson Tinker, starting long snapper for the University of Alabama football team, Nov. 20. Tinker shared with the student ministry about football and his encounter with the April 27 tornadoes. The church will hold a candlelight service Dec. 18, 6:30 p.m., to honor lives lost this year and to pray for the families going through the first Christmas without their loved ones. The church will kick off 2012 with a special message series from Pastor Mickey Bell called “The Power to Change” every Sunday morning in January at 9:15 and 10:30. The series will help provide information and determination to keep new year commitments.
