Retired Alabama Baptist pastor E. David Burgess died Oct. 1. He was 85.
Burgess was a native of Calhoun County and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. During his years in the ministry, he served a number of Alabama Baptist churches as pastor, including Ten Island Baptist Church, Ohatchee, in Calhoun Baptist Association; Beechwood Baptist Church, Mount Olive, in North Jefferson Baptist Association; and First Baptist Church, Cleveland, in Friendship Baptist Association.
At the time of his death, Burgess attended McElwain Baptist Church, Birmingham, in Birmingham Baptist Association. He is survived by his wife, Ruby, and two children. (TAB)
